In 1988, the Air Jordan 3 is released. This campaign followed Air Jordan for a couple of years and is definitely one of the most appreciated Nike commercial series through all time.Nike created a personality ad campaign featuring the Mars Blackmon character who was created and played by famous director and actor Spike Lee.
Leading up to the Air Jordan shoes comeback, Nike SB as well as other brands started bringing back elephant print. For some, the inversion of white leather with the elephant print was just too much, but for others, the shoe was perfect. The “Flip” Air Jordan 3 retros were somewhat of a shock when first seen.Sure to catch cheap jordan shoes just because of its unique print, Jordan Brand took things a step further with chrome accents and a leather lined interior. These retro Air Jordans released the same day as the Fire Red Jordan 3’s and according to some, stole the show in the process.
When the Air Jordan 3 was sold again as a re-retro in 2001, it was a different story. The true religion jeans was released in 4 re-retro colorways including 3 of the original 4 colorways except featuring a Jumpman on the back of the shoe instead of the famous “Nike Air” symbol. They were not as widely available as the Fire Reds, but attainable at doors other than Jordan Lifestyle retailers. At a time when Jordan Brand was releasing one general release and one Lifestyle release, these fell into another category of “limited general release”. |
