Retired ABC Correspondent, John McWethy, Died on a Skiing Accident

John McWethy, a retired ABC news correspondent died on a skiing accident yesterday at Keystone Resort in Colorado. Witnesses said McWethy, 61, was skiing fast on an intermediate trail when he missed a turn and slid chest-first into the tree shortly after 10 a.m., confirmed by Coroner Joanne L. Richardson said. He was brought to Summit Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 2 in the afternoon February 6, 2008.
John McWethy was a graduate of DePauw University on 1969. The same school awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2002. He also held a master's degree from Columbia University's journalism school.
He was also present in the Pentagon when an American Airlines plane hijacked by terrorists crashed into the building Sept. 11, 2001.
Mr. McWethy leave a grieving widow and two children behind.
