Fashion and artwork will fuse at Art Basel as designers and retailers showcase their wares alongside arts events. Here’s a rundown of some of the designer and boutique happenings this week, geared to fashion-loving art aficionados and art-loving fashionistas: • Vogue magazine will launch three days of fashion, beauty and lifestyle trends, with a temporary shopping lounge from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at The Raleigh Hotel, 1775 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. Designers will include Trina Turk, Sam Edelman, bebe, Canon, Curve Boutique, Shari Liu handbags, Honey Child and others. An opening champagne reception will kick off the three-day fete from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. RSVP to vogue@taraink.com. • Luxury fashion house Maison Martin Margiela will showcase for the first time in the United States a 20th anniversary celebration piece unveiled at the Antwerp Mode Museum in Belgium. It will be up through Jan. 2 at the Maison Martin Margiela boutique, 3930 NE Second Ave., Suite 101, Miami. • Fashion designer Manish Arora was selected by Nespresso to create 16 fashion designs based on 16 popular flavors of coffee, melding high-end art with high-end coffee. The designs will be on display for several weeks at the Nespresso Coffee Boutique, 1111 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach. • BALLYLove, a collection of products designed by an international contemporary artist in collaboration with the Bally design team, will be offered from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Wednesday through Saturday at 191 NE 40th St., Suite 101, Miami. • Tomas Maier will host artists Lisa Eisner, former fashion editor at Mademoiselle and American Vogue and co-founder of Greybull Press, and Delfina Delettrez Fendi, fourth-generation Italian designer, who founded her jewelry collection, Delfina Delettrez, in Rome in 2007. Her latest collection, WE-MAN, first presented in Paris in October 2010, is inspired by women of the past who blurred the line between feminine and masculine. The exhibition will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at 170 NE 40th St., Miami. • Christian Louboutin has designed a limited edition shoe to benefit microfinance, which provides the poor with access to very small loans in order to start and run small businesses. “Peace of Shoe” is a classic, peep-toe platform covered in silk satin and trimmed with embroidered Indian ribbon. Only 33 pairs were produced worldwide, and each is numbered and signed. The shoes will be available in lavender in Miami with 100 percent of the proceeds going to benefit microfinance, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, at 155 NE 40th St, Miami. • Duncan Quinn will launch DQ bespoke and ready-to-wear special edition tees, polos, shorts, jeans and other items during Design Miami, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m, Wednesday through Saturday, at 4040 NE Second Ave., #102, Miami. Keeping true to vintage style, a section of the boutique will be transformed into a movie theater complete with vintage seats, popcorn and classic Michael Caine movies. • En Avance will present a House of Loveness photo exhibit by the children of Zimbabwe. Photos will be for sale to benefit the House of Loveness, which supports the needs of abandoned, orphaned, and underserved children in Zimbabwe, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, at 161 NE 40th St., Miami. Luis Morais partners with the boutique Alchemist to launch a joint project called Pop-N-Shop, offering a variety of fashions, and an assortment of Luis Morais designs offered in numerous metals, gemstones and sizes. The Pop-N-Shop will be open Wednesday to Monday, at Alchemist, 438 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach. • Designer Roland Mouret will make an appearance to present his RM by Roland Mouret Spring 2011 collection Saturday, beginning at 12:30 p.m., with a runway fashion presentation at 1 p.m., at Neiman Marcus Bal Harbour, Couture Salon, Level Two, 9700 Collins Ave., Bal Harbour. • Red ribbon-inspired fashions will be on display from creative design students from Miami International University of Art & Design, at the Miami Beach Community Health Center, as part of its Through the Eyes of Love juried art exhibition, in partnership with ArtCenter/South Florida, held in honor of World AIDS Day. The exhibition is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.Wednesday through Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. • Gilt Groupe’s Gilt.com/artbasel will offer a virtual “pop-up” shop from Friday to Monday, with a curated selection of Art Basel-related items. The store will be curated by Art & Advisory and feature works of artists Michelle Elzay, Jonas Wood and Mark Bradford. On Gilt Man, featured items for sale will include vintage Rolex watches and designs by Alexander McQueen, Roberto Cavalli, and Warriors of Radness. • EcoArtFashion week will take place at the Albion Hotel, 1650 James Ave., Miami Beach, from Wednesday through Sunday. The event supports environmental development, sustainability, recycling and reusing materials through Fashion & Art projects. The EcoArtFashion week exhibition will feature eco-designs by artists and fashion designers, including a vintage fashion print collection from Europe, Luis Valenzuela’s upcycled couture collection, Sharon Lombard’s hat collection, made from recycled materials, Jorge Parra’s eco-fashion photography,and vintage garments from the private collection of Madeleine Kirsch. chanel outlet
