Ryan could be Jets' main man

the Jets don't move quickly in trying to reach a deal with Steve Spagnuolo this week, it's pretty clear that Rex Ryan could be their main choice. The only problem could be if the Ravens go to the Super Bowl because it would hold off his Jordan 18 hiring for a couple of weeks. Ryan, according to a source, said that he would consider keeping Brian Schottenheimer as offensive coordinator even though Schottenheimer is clearly a finalist for the Jets' head-coaching job and a popular choice in the Jordan 17 building. Why would Ryan be willing to take on somebody who was a candidate for the job? Ryan was in the same position as Schottenheimer a year ago. Ryan was a finalist for the Ravens' head-coaching job but lost it to John Harbaugh. Ryan told Baltimore management he would stay on as coordinator, take the team to the Super Bowl and then get a head-coaching job in 2009. Stories like that impress owners looking for winners. In the Lions' den: Ron Rivera will meet with the Lions on Wednesday and interview for head coach. Detroit sure looks as though it will hire a defensive coach. Jim Schwartz of the Titans, Leslie Frazier of the Vikings and Todd Bowles of the Jordan 16 Dolphins are among the finalists. This will be Rivera's first interview, but he expects to be in the mix and is a very strong candidate. K.C. the place to be: The hiring of Scott Pioli as the Chiefs' general manager makes Kansas City one of the top spots for head-coaching candidates. That could make Spagnuolo and Schwartz two of the leading candidates. With Josh McDaniels out of the mix, Spagnuolo is considered one of Nike Men Dunk High the hottest quarterback properties. Naturally, Pioli would like to take one shot at Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz, but it's unlikely he would leave college at this time.
