Ils comptaient parmi les premiers estivants de Fregene, aujourd’hui,  Fellini et Mastroianni sont partis, le glamour de la Dolce Vita aussi mais ce village balnéaire de la côte n’en reste pas moins une destination très prisée des célébrités et de la jeunesse dorée romaine qui n'hésitent pas à délaisser leur location Rome pour le week-end pour Fregene. Tout comme Fellini, les aficionados l’on adopté pour les mêmes raisons qu’il y a 40 ans : à une petite heure de Rome et loin des plages encombrées d’Ostia.

Le mieux pour explorer Fregene est de louer un  vélo pour environ 10€ par jour chez Motociclo Batella (Viale Nettuno, 171). D’ici des dizaines de plages s’étalent devant vos yeux, il ne vous reste plus qu’à choisir…La plupart des plages appartiennent à des clubs privés appelés « stabilimenti balneari » qui comptent bien souvent des restaurants, piscines, bar terrasses, ainsi que des cabines et des transats à louer. Ils vous assureront tous  bien évidemment que Fellini était un habitué!!! Le Capri Club avec sa touche de luxe méditerranéen (Lungomare di Levante, 288) est un des endroits où se montrer à Fregene, vous pourrez d’ailleurs y croiser pas mal de footballeurs. Pour une touche plus Côte Ouest des USA, rendez-vous au Sogno del Mare ((Lungomare di Ponente, 25) avec ses terrains de volley et planches de surf à louer.

Le début d’après-midi est le moment idéal pour pédaler dans les rues quasiment vides de Fregene, du fait que tout le monde fait une pause pour le déjeuner, et vous rendre du côté du parc de la pinède au nord du village.

A l’extrémité nord de la Via Silvi Marina, vous trouverez Ondanomala, une de ces cabanes d’où résonne de la musique branchée et où l’on vous sert des ****tails hors de prix mais tellement chics…De plus la vue sur les montagnes au nord sont à couper le souffle. A l’heure du goûter, faites vous plaisr en dégustant une délicieuse « gelato » sur la Viale Castellammare. Enfin pour terminer la journée en beauté, le club Gilda on the Beach (Lungomare di Ponente, 11) est une des discothèques les plus réputées du coin.

Le moyen plus direct pour vous rendre à Fregene reste les bus régionaux bleus, des départs sont organisés à peu près toutes les heures et le trajet dure 35 minutes. Le terminal est juste à côté de la station de metro Cornelia à l’ouest de la Cité du Vatican. Attention pensez à acheter un ticket avant, environ 2€ dans les tabacs. Les trains partent de la gare de Termini en direction de Maccarese, puis un bus peut vous conduire jusqu’à Fregene. Dernier conseil, vérifiez les horaires de retour en arrivant pour éviter les mauvaises surprises et n'hésitez pas à visiter ce blog sur les bons plans Rome
